Peter Coe is a semi professional wildlife
photographer based on the island of Portland, a birding hot-spot on
England’s south coast. He has been a keen bird watcher for nearly
40 years and has travelled widely throughout the world in pursuit of
new birds.
12 years ago he took up bird photography to run side by side with his main interest. This has progressed over the years to him building up a library of over 30,000 images from across the world. Including images from the U.K, Arctic Norway, Kenya, Tanzania and the Gambia. Also there has been various visits to India for both birds and mammals, plus landscapes and birds from the Everest and Anapurna regions of Nepal. North America is well covered with over 200 species of birds from repeat visits to California, Florida, Alaska, Churchill and Point Pelee along with a collection of cetaceans images from Baja and the Sea of Cortez in Mexico. He has also visited the Galapagos Islands, off the South American coast. His images have been used widely to illustrate encyclopedias and books published by Dempsey Parr, Dorling Kindersley and New Holland with forthcoming work in preparation with Alula Press and Christopher Helm. Magazines including British Birds, Birding World, Birdwatch and Birdwatching have all used his images. Travel brochures, bird reports, postcards, calendars, Christmas cards, advertising, interpretation display boards and web sites have also used his work. His work is currently being stocked by 2 digital photo libraries in the U.K. The vast majority of his images are captured by stalking his wild subjects using the experience he has gained from field techniques as a bird watcher over the years. |
